What is paramotoring or powered paragliding?

Flying a paramotor is the cheapest, most rewarding, and probably the safest form of aviation available to the public. In some cases, it allows you the freedom of flying from your back yard. It offers the convenience of packing up your aircraft and taking it to almost any location to fly. It is probably best described as “the motorcycle of the sky”. You pull the glider into the air allowing it to inflate and become rigid. You use the propeller from the motor to create thrust and help the glider to provide lift for you to climb, allowing you to run into the sky.

How safe is it?

Flying a paramotor is the safest form of aviation, and much safer than a lot of other sports as well. Once you are up and away from the ground the risks becomes minimal. You can decide the level of risk you are willing to take, but it is important to understand the consequences and inherent danger that come with risky behavior.

There are no age requirements, but you must be physically fit and able to walk with a 45 to 65lb. motor on your back.

The best part of flying a paramotor may be the convenience. You only need the paramotor itself, the glider, and a helmet. Equipment will be provided for your training.

All the equipment can easily be packed into a small vehicle and taken to any suitable location.

Are there rules?

There is very little regulation in the sport of paramotoring. In the USA paramotors are regulated by the FAA as ultralight aircraft under the rules of FAR Part 103.

Wich are covered in training.
